From Folk Wisdom to Innovative Product: SINGHA COMPLEX Joins Hands with QSDS and SWU to Host Innovative Thai Silk Fashion Show by Four Up-and-Coming Designers

BANGKOK – 9 September 2019 – SINGHA COMPLEX by Singha Estate Public Company Limited, in collaboration with Queen Sirikit Department of Sericulture (QSDS) and Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) , hosted Thailand InnoCreative Silk 2019. The exhibition showcases the by-product of innovative and creative research on Thai silk, reinterpreted by four up-and-coming Thai fashion designs under the theme From Folk Wisdom to Sophisticated Lifestyle Fashion. The initiative is aimed to preserve Thai cultural heritage by promoting the local craft among the young generation.

nMs Siriporn Boonchoo, Director-general, the Queen Sirikit Department of Sericulture said, “The department is a key organisation in driving the comprehensive capacity in sericulture management. We are delighted to present the fashion design based on the innovative and creative research on Thai silk, which is a collaboration with Srinakharinwirot University’s College of Creative Industry, in hope to uplift the sophisticated and fashionable Thai silk to the global standards using innovation, new technique and creativity. We develop the silk to have patterns, design and quality that fit the taste of new generation, as we want to encourage the public to be interested and preserve the Thai cultural heritage.”

nAssistant Professor Dr. Kageeporn Wongpreedee, Acting Dean, College of Creative Industry, Srinakharinwirot University said, “On behalf of the Srinakharinwirot University’s College of Creative Industry, we are honoured to work with Singha Estate in presenting the research project, as well as providing the platform for the new generation to showcase their work in fashion design. The project is in line with the mission of the university in creating quality research and innovation projects that will be beneficial to the nation and the world. We are also honoured to work with the Queen Sirikit Department of Sericulture in sharing knowledge and know-how on sericulture, new technology and ideation to our students.”

nThe highlight of Thailand InnoCreative Silk 2019 includes innovative fashion show using CoolMode Thai Silk and Southern Thai batik silk under the concept ‘Community Commerce’.

nThe show featured the appearance of leading actors and models such as ‘Nat’ Aniporn Chalermburanawong, ‘Yoghurt’  Nattasha Bunprachom, Miss Thailand Universe 2019 runner-up Miriam Sornprommas, and Krating Khunnarong. Thailand InnoCreative Silk 2019 exhibition is held on 9-22 September 2019 from 10.00hrs.-21.00hrs., at A zone, G Floor, SINGHA COMPLEX on New Petchburi Road.
